Description

Application

This electrode consists of a platinum ring indicator electrode and a silver/silver chloride reference electrode, with its housing made of glass. The reference solution is a 3 mol/L potassium chloride solution, which is used for detecting the redox potential in aqueous solutions.

Technical parameters

  • Electrode potential (pH4 standard solution – quinone hydroquinone saturated solution) : (245-270)mV (15-30) ℃
  • Operating temperature: (5-70) ℃
  • Internal resistance of the reference electrode: ≤10kΩ
  • Electrode stability: ±8mV/24h

Usage, maintenance, and precautions

  • When in use, first unscrew the protective bottle cap and then remove the protective bottle. And remove the liquid filling plug on the electrode rod.
  • When measuring, the test part of the electrode (including the platinum ring and the reference solution complex part) must be simultaneously immersed in the solution to be measured.
  • When measuring, the liquid level of the reference solution on the electrode should be higher than that of the solution to be measured. If it is insufficient, it should be filled.
  • When changing the measurement solution, rinse the electrode head with pure water and shake it clean. Avoid mutual contamination between solutions.
  • The electrode plug is connected to the ORP meter or mV meter.
  • PH4 standard solution – quinone hydroquinone saturated solution preparation: in 100 ml of pH4 standard solution, stir in 0.1 g quinone hydroquinone to assume the saturation state. This solution is valid within 48 hours.
  • After the solution measurement is completed, save the electrode using the reverse process as described above.
  • The lead-out ends of the electrodes must be kept clean and dry. Short circuits at both output ends must be strictly prevented; otherwise, they will lead to inaccurate or ineffective measurement results.
  • The electrode should be kept away from long-term immersion in distilled water, protein solutions, or acidic fluoride solutions, and should be protected from contact with silicone grease.
    10. If the performance of the electrode is found to have declined after long-term use, when necessary, polish the platinum ring with ultra-fine particle metallographic sandpaper, then wash it with distilled water, and finally soak it in a potassium chloride solution to restore it to its original condition.
  • If the solution being tested contains substances that can easily contaminate sensitive bulbs or clog the liquid interface. In this case, the contaminants should be cleaned with an appropriate solution based on their nature to restore their freshness.
