This is a rapid, on-site test that detects Legionella pneumophila in water systems within 25 minutes, ideal for high-risk areas like hospitals, hotels, and large buildings. It utilizes Lateral Flow Immunochromatographic Assay (LFICA) technology, similar to home pregnancy tests, to provide immediate results without requiring a laboratory. The test is highly sensitive, with a detection limit of 100 CFU/L, and can identify the presence of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 (sg1) on a separate line from serogroups 2-15.

How it works

• A water sample is collected, and a filter is used to trap bacteria.
• The trapped bacteria are extracted and mixed with a buffer solution.
• A sample of the liquid is then added to a test cassette.
• After 25 minutes, the results are read by observing the lines on the test cassette.
• A single line indicates a negative result, while two lines (one for sg1 and one for the control line) indicate a positive result.
